English Engagements

Everyone has an English crush right? and I don't mean a pale skinned, slightly awkward, in-line-to-the-throne holiday fling. I'm referring to late night/early morning dictionary reads, punctuation passion and romantic feelings for correct grammar.
I'm not sure right now if this particular brand of nerdiness should even be admitted on a blog as cool as this but here goes...i adore alliteration. I am head over heels, butt crazy about alliteration. Actually, I have an amorous affection and am an ardent admirer of alliteration.
V from 'V for Vendetta' is my muse. I'll never forget that scene when he reeled off so many v words it left my heart racing and my spine tingling. I'm actually pretty sure that the writers are equally as obsessed with alliteration and used that plot as a vehicle to surreptitiously showcase their alliterative genius.
Take note...You have been warned...In future, PDAs (Public Displays of Alliteration) will occur so to avoid feeling like a third wheel - I encourage you to search your heart and find what part of the English language makes you feel lightheaded and gets your palms a-sweating. And share it with the world. Now is the time.

  1. V for Vendetta certainly brings excellence to the art of alliterations. It now also reminds of funny interviews with the hairy Hangover dude and Natalie Portman; shaving heads and the like.
I love English-y and Grammatical goodness. Ever since being harassed by my mother for saying ‘them people’ instead of ‘THOSE people’ (I still hear her voice), I have been fascinated by letters and words and why we use them how we do.
Bill Bryson writes a supreme book called “The Mother Tongue” it speaks of how inconsistent & brilliant the English language is. And oh it is. From the history of, to the varieties spoken; English definitely sticks it to the man.
I love when there are many of the same letter in the one name. Thank you to my boss- Kim KirKpatricK. For your 4 K’s, I love you.
Can i go down a slightly different path to say that I am an accents fan really.. How they can create a beautiful sound! Oh the Norwegian male who is speaking in the mother tongue. I’d be happy for his tongue to meet my tongue [can I say that?] what is it about accent that makes normality of Anglais so delicious?! Even an Irish lad or a French beau can weaken my robust set of knees.
Thank you for the sounds that come from your mouth and into my ears.
